cobblestone, marble, granite, copper, glass tiles
Waterways was inspired by the music of Toru Takemitsu (1931-1996) by the same title. He was a self-taught Japanese composer who combined elements of Eastern and Western music and philosophy to create a unique sound world. Nagasawa met Toru Takemitsu during the Contemporary Music Festival in West Berlin in 1982. Using historical cobblestones combined with other materials such as marble, granite, copper, and glass tiles, Waterways was installed in the district of Krezberg, where the city was divided between the East and the West by the Berlin Wall.
