Fukushima Airport, Fukushima, Japan
Corresponding to the Fukushima Biennial’s theme, “Sky,” artist and the Fukushima University students visited an old kite master to learn the traditional bamboo kite making. The students collaboratively constructed a large kite (7’x10’), and erected at the Fukushima airport’s main concourse. The image on the kite was the artist hands embracing the earth. At the opening event, students, and visitors flew the kites at the Japanese garden, across from the airport.
