Giving to Art
There are many ways to give to the Department of Art, including outright gifts of cash, shares of stock, or a variety of planned gifts. Your donations will help us achieve our three main goals: student scholarships and/or internships, post-graduate awards and fellowships, events and visiting artists that advance our mission. A gift to this fund has direct and immediate impact on the Department and the students it serves.
You can give directly online through Stony Brook’s secure website. Gifts may be made by check, money order or credit card. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Department of Art/SBF and mailed to “Department of Art, Chairperson; Stony Brook University; Staller Center; Stony Brook, NY 11794.”
Matching Gifts. You may be able to increase the value of your gift if your company or employer has a matching gift program. If you are not sure if there is a matching gift program, please contact the CAS Office of Advancement at (631) 632-1457 and we can assist you.
Gifts of Shares of Stock
A gift of appreciated securities may be an advantageous way for individuals to make a gift to the Department of Art by avoiding or reducing capital gains taxes. On the other hand, if you choose to use depreciated securities to make your gift, in most cases it will be more advantageous to sell the shares and give the proceeds to the Department.
Please consider giving to the Art Department Fund for Excellence. These funds are used in various ways to support graduate and undergraduate projects, as well as departmental events including guest lectures and visiting artists. To support us: click here
